I’m an adult learner at my local community college. In 2018, I took an A&P course to fulfill a general biology requirement and discovered that I loved it. Fast forward — I was tutoring fellow biology students on campus. In my year and a half of tutoring, I met a lot of people who were convinced they sucked at biology, but all they really needed was 1) encouragement and 2) an alternative visual tool or mnemonic. Over a few semesters, I went from scribbling cell structure on tiny wet erase boards to covering wall-mounted white boards with flow charts and cartoons. I knew I was doing something right when a professor was angry that I’d erased one. A few folks told me I should take pictures or write a book or something, so now Brain BREAK! exists.

I have been making comics since I was a kid. In my twenties, I published a webcomic called Don’t Call Me Candy. I currently tinker with fantasy comics, pixel art, and other projects. Besides all of that, I am interested in video games, roller skating, birdwatching, and navel-gazing.

I’m currently tutoring at my local community college and have been doing so for at least 4 cumulative years!
