Greetings, The Void. It’s me, Cam. I’ve had this webpage up for several years now, and I’ve never been super clear on if anyone visits it or not. I’m trying to decide whether to let it expire.
See, here’s the thing. I suffer from a bit of “big fish, small pond” syndrome. I spent several years creeping my way through 100- and 200-level classes at a community college getting pretty good grades. I even got a job as a tutor, and I’m told I’m pretty decent at it. But I started attending a university about a year ago, and the more classes I take, the more humbled I am. The more I realize I am not an educator yet. The more I realize I am severely lacking in context. The more I realize I am definitely not the smartest person in the room.
I am afraid to look back at some of these, because I know I have “simplified” things in a way that is not dishonest or malicious, but uninformed and potentially sending unwitting viewers down the wrong path. (For example, approaching chemistry-chemistry from a biology-chemistry standpoint, which just bakes chemists’ beans.)
So… what business do I have running a science blog? Am I actually doing a disservice to science and education by keeping this thing up and pretending it’s any good?
I really am not sure what to think at this stage.
So if you are reading this – number one, what are you doing here and how did you arrive, and number two, is this actually helpful? I’m extremely curious.
